GNATS!!
The Homeowners Association has been attempting to be pro-active in dealing with the gnat situation this fall and this note is to update everyone on the status of these actions. This situation has been uniquely problematic, not only in Belrose but throughout the mid-Atlantic region because of the high levels of moisture this year. The Community Services committee has attempted to meet with homeowners who are experiencing significant problems specific to their homes to assess the situation overall and report back to the HOA Board. The problem has been compounded by the combination of high levels of rain and warmer than usual temperatures with limited periods of extended cold temperatures. Individual homeowners have been having exterminator services within their homes with varied levels of success and the HOA has consulted with its landscaping service and their exterminator service as to potential methods for treatment. This is an ongoing process as there does not appear to be a consensus as to how to best manage this issue other than waiting for the anticipated change in weather.
The HOA is pursuing options that would include treatment of extended areas of grass, etc but wants to be assured that this would actually provide a solution, and there are conflicting reports from extermination services as to whether this will actually impact the problem. Treatment of lawn areas and any areas of water remain the focus of the HOA and are part of its responsibility. Treatment within a home remains the responsibility of the homeowner, and not that of the HOA.
